Rights and Responsibilities

Promoting quality care while fostering mutual respect.

 

As a valued patient at Eye Consultants, you have these rights:

  • Receive appropriate and considerate care irrespective of age, gender, race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities or mode of payment.
  • Receive a clear explanation of their diagnosis and benefits and risks of each treatment and the expected outcome.
  • Receive immediate care in emergency cases.
  • Know the identity (name & specialty) of the physician responsible for your care.
  • Give written informed consent before any surgical procedure or treatment begins.
  • To actively participate in their pain management plan.
  • Be free from restrains and seclusion in any form that is not medically required.
  • Actively participate in decision regarding medical care or to select a representative to act on their behalf.
  • Ask questions until any issues regarding their diagnosis and care are understood.
  • Refuse treatment to the extent of the law and be informed of the consequences of the refusal.
  • Have access to an interpreter if necessary.
  • Participate I their own discharge therapeutic plans and follow ups care.
  • Confidentiality in communication and patient records, unless disclosure is permitted by law upon the patient’s written authorization.
  • Review or obtain a copy of a medical report and have the information explained, if.
  • Receive a detailed financial bill and to receive a satisfactory explanation as how it has been assessed.
  • Obtain a second opinion at their own expense.
  • Have a family member or guardian as an escort depending on your health status.
  • Request religious assistant as long as it does not interfere with regulation function of the institute.
  • Express complaints, compliments or suggestions and receive a timely response.

As a valued patient at Eye Consultants Center, you and your family share these responsibilities:

  • Respect all institute rules and regulations.
  • Show consideration for others and deal with other patients and staff with respect.
  • Provide complete and accurate personal and medical information.
  • Be considerate towards other patients and all staff.
  • Respect the privacy of other patients and avoid interference with the treatment of other patients.
  • Follow the recommendations and prescribed course of treatment advised by the treating doctor.
  • Be responsible for the consequences of refusing treatment or not following the doctor’s instruction or advise.
  • Actively participate in the pain management plan.
  • Inform medical staff about any complications may arise during the course of treatment.
  • Avoid bringing valuable belongings to the institute. Patients are responsible of their own belongings.
  • Ensure their visitors considerate of other patients and personnel and observe visiting hours.
  • Be on time for appointments or call the appointment desk beforehand if an appointment can’t be kept.
  • Verbalize their understanding of discharge instructions.
  • Respect the priority given to emergency cases.
  • Observe safety regulations including the no-smoking policy, maintaining the cleanliness of the place, hand hygiene, etc.
  • Provide the institute with accurate information concerning your method of Payment (e.g. cash, insurance, credits) and your ability to meet the financial obligations including paying any additional expenses not covered by your insurance or any third-party payer.
