PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW
Professor Ehab N. El-Rayes, M.D, Ph.D, FASRS – is a renowned Ophthalmologist and professor, with over 25 years of experience. He is the chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Institute of Ophthalmology in Cairo and a member of multiple international ophthalmological societies. He received his medical degree with honor from Ein Shams University. Professor Ehab N. El-Rayes has completed his Ophthalmology training and residency in Cairo University hospital. He had his master degree in Ophthalmology from Cairo University after which he joined the Associated Retinal Consultants with its great faculty in Royal Oak Michigan for his vitreoretinal fellowship in 1993. He also had a year of research fellowship in Research Eye Institute, Oakland University, Rochester Michigan, U.S.A 1994. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1997.
Professor Ehab N. El-Rayes has participated as a primary investigator in clinical trials both nationally and internationally, and he is a vitreoretinal surgeon in the Retina service at the Eye Institute hospital. He is the innovator of the 23 g fragmatome as well as the innovator of the suprachoroidal surgical techniques and product line.
In addition to his many awards, Professor Ehab N. El-Rayes is a fellow of The American Society of Retina Specialists. He is also actively involved in teaching, fellow training, publications, journal reviews, book chapters, and serves on a number of educational and research committees.
